Will Baltimore Shine The Light On Sexual Abuse?

I want everyone to know that even hundreds of miles away from Baltimore people are watching and talking. Many are saying:
Did you hear what's happening in Baltimore? I wonder if the same thing is happening here? Then they go on with their mumblings about this person and that person.
The Baltimore community is ahead of the rest of us. They can go one of two ways -- they can come up with a zero tolerance standard which was suggested by The Awareness Center or they can just go back to the way things have been. My hope is the community of Baltimore will take a leadership role in showing the rest of the world the appropriate way of dealing with sexual abuse and assault.

Rabbi Chaim Landau (Ner Tamid) spoke brilliantly regarding the crisis. It would be great if someone could post the text of his sermon.

UOJ wrote today that there is a convicted molester who used to work for Torah Umesorah. He says he may be one of the few cases that was able to repent. He is not 100% sure but has been in contact with the parole officer and otherwise monitoring him. He says that while he did not want to post the name on his own blog at this point, he did pass the info along to another website where it is available. Would that be the Awareness Center? Does anyone know who it is? I don't think that any molester can repent.

UOJ said nothing about repentance, what he said is that he is monitoring the situation closely with the parole officer. I'm assuming UOJ has a reason for not posting his name. Maybe he's not around children anymore. He is the guy that got us here, I have no doubt that he's on it.

I was wondering who UOJ works with? What's his background in doing this kind of work? Does he work with others? or is he out on his own?

I think he's done a lot of good, yet he's not very polished. I have concerns for the victims and their families.

UOJ claims to be a "plumber"-the Roto-Rooter Guy, do you know a "polished" plumber? Does a plumber need to be polished?

UOJ's rough & tough bit is all an act. Like he says, "people are afraid of crazy."

If he showed up as Mr. Mild Manners, the institutional thugs that he has moved aside would still be immovable and smugly grinning.

So the only way to end sexual abuse in Brooklyn is to act like a thug? Oops, what am I saying. Everyone in Brooklyn acts like thugs. :-)
